SYNOPSIS
 Tiger Woods entered the final round of the Memorial Tournament leading Vijay Singh by two strokes. His game wasn't as sharp as it had been the previous week when he won the Deutsche Bank-SAP Open TPC Europe, but he came up with the clutch shots when he needed them. Perhaps the best came after one of the worst when Woods found the rough beside the 14th green. He swung under the ball and only advanced it a couple of feet, but then holed the next chip for par -- just as the host, Jack Nicklaus, warned on TV that double bogey was a possibility. Woods went on to shoot 69 and beat Singh by two. Woods, who was trying to be less mechanical on the greens, needed just 108 putts that week, eight fewer than the man who finished second. "I was striping it in Germany so I didn't need my short game," Woods said. "This week I didn't hit the ball as good as I'd like, and my short game bailed me out."
