Sergio felt like he left plenty of shots out on the course despite a first-round, 1-under 71. The defending champ was 3 under with two holes to play before taking a double bogey on the par-3 eighth hole, his 17th of the day.

Sergio struggled in the second round, making the cut on the number at even-par 144 after shooting a 1-over 73 on Friday. No PLAYERS Champion has successfully defended his title in the tournament's 35-year history.

	His father Victor is an occasional competitor on the Champions Tour. In 2009, he competed in the The Cap Cana Championship, finishing 78th.
	Won the Vardon Trophy in 2008 with an adjusted scoring average of 69.12.
	Close friends Spanish tennis phenom Rafael Nadal.
	Will defend his HSBC Champions title this fall when the event officially becomes a World Golf Championships event.
	Still seeking his first victory in a World Golf Champions event. His best finish in one came at the 2007 World Golf Championships-CA Championship, when he tied for third.
